8m Aluminium Work Vessel - Naval Architecture and Marine Solutions

8m Aluminium Work Vessel

This Aluminium Work Vessel was custom designed to undertake patrols on inland waterways. The client specification detailed primary tasks of the work vessel would include water sampling activities, inspection trips and incident response activities.

The semi enclosed wheelhouse is situated forward on the eight metre work vessel. It has a solid roof and forward raked windows, with the capacity to open side windows for additional ventilation. The arrangement for the wheelhouse and cabin, allows for easy access to the foredeck. The vessel is fitted with a pipe and canvas Bimini that extends from the wheelhouse over the full length of the work deck. The sturdy pipe frame includes grab rails running along the centreline and outer edge of the frame. For additional protection from the elements the canopy is fitted with removable storm covers extending from the roof line to the gunnels.

Designed by Naval Architecture and Marine Solutions (NMS), to be built in marine grade aluminium, the design specification meets all the requirements of WA Department of Transports regulations for Class 2 survey exempt vessels. The work vessel measures 8.0m overall, with an overall beam of 3.0m. This work boat is trailer able, with restrictions.

The vessel is propelled by a single Yamaha 225Hp four stroke outboard motor and carries 200 litres of fuel.

This work vessel with ample deck space is suited to the clients’ specification but would also be suited to any river work, or with changes to specified safety equipment can also operate in unprotected waters and within five nautical miles of the shore whilst still being registered survey exempt.

The clients’ specification called for two seating arrangements on the work vessel, and the NMS design allows for simple conversion between the two seating configurations. Both seating arrangements contain fixed forward seating for the helmsman and deckhand. All removable seating is arranged to be firmly secured when installed, but also easily removed. The varying seating configurations allow up to 2 crew and additional 10 special personnel.

We are always happy to customise our vessel designs to suit specific client or builder requirements. This work vessel could be customised in a number of ways including alternative propulsion installations, fully enclosing the wheelhouse and amending the design to meet other standard classification requirements.

The work vessel design could also be adapted for a number of additional uses including:

    • Commercial Tour Boat
    • Fishing Charter Vessel
    • Crew Transfer Boat
    • Diving Operations Vessel
    • Emergency Response Vessel
    • Maintenance / Work Vessel
