Designed by Naval Architecture and Marine Solutions (NMS) to carry four crew, consisting of marine researchers, this vessel could apply for survey exempt vessel status as it meets the following requirements of the Uniform Shipping Code:
o Having a measured length not exceeding 8 metres
o That it is intended the vessel be operated within 5 nautical miles of the mainland coast and
o The vessel shall not carry passengers
A survey exempt vessel must still meet exemption conditions, such as being registered, displaying registration number on the vessel and the vessel must still be furnished with safety equipment as is required under the Western Australian Marine Regulations .
Constructed from marine grade aluminium, the vessel measures 7.98 metres in length overall, with a beam of 2.45 metres, and has a draught of 0.50 metres. The vessel is designed to be fitted out with a 3.0 litre Cummins Diesel Engine, and fuel tank with 300 litres carrying capacity.
The size of this survey exempt vessel means it remains trailer able without restriction.
Our scope of design included the preparation of the nested aluminium plates to ensure efficient and accurate construction, by local boat builder Stagg Boats.
We are always happy to tailor our involvement in the vessel design to suit our clients’ requirements. Whether you need a full vessel design package, or structural drawings, no job is too big or small. For ship yards and boat yards, we can supply a preliminary general arrangement, from which we can develop everything from vessel lines to the nested parts.
